Surabaya City
Surabaya City is the capital town of East Java province, Indonesia. It is the second biggest city in Indonesia. Surabaya has a nearly seven million population, famous as the center of business, industry, commerce, and education in Java and beyond. Surabaya is well known as The Heroes City because it plays an important role in Indonesia's independence history to struggle against the Dutch Colonial invaders. Surabaya's word takes from the Javanese myth of the animal battle between Sura and Buaya or Shark and Crocodile.
In the Indies Netherlands period, Surabaya residency status as the capital of Surabaya, whose territory also includes Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Jombang, and Gresik districts. Surabaya got into class as a municipality and region in 1926, established as the provincial capital of Surabaya. Surabaya City has changed and grown to become the second-largest business city in Indonesia after Jakarta.
Surabaya revolved around Jembatan Merah or The Red Bridge but until 1920 the growth of new residential areas such as Gubeng, Darmo, Sawahan, and Ketabang. The port harbor was built in 1917, and it makes getting busier as the center of economics in East Java.
