Mount Kelud

Mount Kelud in East Java is one of the most active and dynamic volcanoes in Indonesia. Situated on the border of three regencies: Kediri, Blitar, and Malang, this mountain not only offers stunning natural beauty but also bears silent witness to the incredible power of nature. Mount Kelud's main attraction lies in its constantly changing landscape due to its explosive eruptions. After a major eruption in 2014, Kelud's appearance drastically changed, from its once turquoise crater lake to a dry crater decorated with volcanic material. This transformation creates a dramatic and unique landscape.
To reach the crater area, visitors can pass through a tunnel built during the Dutch colonial era, known as the Ampera Tunnel. The sensation of walking inside this tunnel adds to the unforgettable adventure. Upon exiting the tunnel, the view of the crater surrounded by steep cliffs and residual eruption material will immediately greet you. Besides enjoying the beauty of the crater, the Mount Kelud tourist area also offers a variety of other activities:
- Off-road Tracks: You can rent a jeep or dirt bike to explore the extreme trails formed by cooled lava.
- Flying Fox: For those seeking a challenge, there's a flying fox ride with stunning mountain views.
- Flower Garden: At the foot of the mountain, there's a beautiful and well-maintained flower garden, an ideal spot for taking photos and relaxing.
Mount Kelud is the perfect destination for nature and adventure lovers. The combination of stunning volcanic landscapes, rich geological history, and a variety of exciting activities make it an unforgettable destination in East Java.
