Lombok Island

Lombok Island is a beautiful island in West Nusa Tenggara of Indonesia. It separates by Lombok’s Straits and Bali in western Sebelat Alas Strait, east of Sumbawa Island. The island is roughly spherical, and it looks like a tail in the southwest part, whose length is approximately 70 kilometers. The Island area reaches 5.435 kilometers square, placing it on the ranking list of 108 islands based on the breadth of the world. The capital city of Lombok Island is Mataram.

According to the Chronicle content of Lombok Island, the eldest kingdom once ruled was Laeq Kingdom (Laeq Sasak language means Past) and other sources of Suwung Chronicle. The oldest monarchy of the Suwung kingdom Lombok was built and led by King Betarasense. Then subsided and was replaced by the Lombok Kingdom. The Stood Kingdom of Sasak was later defeated by one kingdom from Bali in the 9th up to 11th AD. Some other kingdoms that once stood on the island of Lombok among others, like Langko, Pejanggik, Bayan, Samarkaton, and Selaparang.

Selaparang kingdom itself came in 2 periods in the 13th and 16th centuries. The first was the Selaparang Hindu kingdom, and rule ended with the arrival Majapahit kingdom expedition in 1357. The second Selaparang kingdom was the Islam kingdom ends in 1740. After being defeated by the combined kingdom of Karangasem Bali and Brittle, which is treason against the royal family because of problems with the king of Selaparang kingdom.
