The Mojokerto Reclining Buddha Statue holds the record for the Largest Reclining Buddha Statue in Indonesia (recorded by the Indonesian Museum of Records) and is said to be the third largest in the world, after Thailand and Nepal. Its astonishing dimensions 22 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 4.5 meters high, and gives it a majestic and monumental appearance. First built in 1993, the statue is coated in gold, a supreme tribute to Gautama Buddha.

Philosophical and Historical Meaning
The Reclining Buddha statue holds deep philosophical significance in Buddhist teachings. The statue's pose, tilted to the right with its right palm supporting its head (known as Maha Parinibbana), depicts the moment of Gautama Buddha's death, or the moment of attaining Parinibbana (perfect nirvana). Beneath the foundation of this giant statue, relief carvings depict the Buddha's life journey, the law of cause and effect (karmaphala), and the law of rebirth.

The Maha Vihara Majapahit and the Reclining Buddha statue in Trowulan hold significant historical and cultural value.
