Malang City

Malang City is now known as a cool and beautiful place, boasts a long history etched in its name and ancient relics. Its traces can be traced back to the 8th century, when the name "Malang" first appeared in inscriptions and historical records.

Malang's connection to ancient history is closely tied to the Singasari Kingdom. This region, including its surrounding areas, was an important political and cultural center during that period. Historical evidence such as the Dinoyo Inscription (760 AD) bears silent witness to the development of successive dynasties.

The name "Malangkucecwara" specifically appears in ancient records found near Singasari. This phrase is believed to refer to the name of a king who ruled and was buried in a temple. Titles such as Batara di Malangkucecwara and Putecwara confirm the presence of important figures associated with the Malang region during that period.

Although the location of these temples remains a mystery and requires further research, existing historical evidence suggests that the Malang region has been a center of political and spiritual activity from the Singasari Kingdom to the Majapahit era.

To this day, traces of this past can still be found, such as the Dinoyo Temple, located in the interior of Malang City. These relics are tangible reminders of the rich history and culture that shape Malang's identity, making it not just a tourist destination but a city with a deep history.
